The cheerful weather matched the spirits of Spring-Ford seniors on the morning of April 30. It was comfortably warm with a beautiful blue sky as the seniors and their families gathered in Coach McNelly Stadium to celebrate this year’s Decision Day.
The excitement was almost tangible; people were roaming around, discussing their future, taking pictures, and enjoying their time outside. A large banner was featured at the center of the field for students to fill out sticky notes to announce their future plans. Afterwards, they were welcome to play games of cornhole with loved ones.
Eventually, a class picture was taken, followed by different groups of students who were asked to take pictures separately. Leaving high school can be bittersweet, but this event emphasized the excitement and hope for the future that comes with it. The event, organized and planned by the Future Planning Center staff, has become a yearly tradition for seniors.
“The feeling of community was so strong during Decision Day,” says senior Andrea Guillen.
All students and accompanying family members were encouraged to wear apparel that represents their future plans, whether that be college, the military, or the workforce.
“I had a lot of fun,” states senior Evelyn Mejia. “But it was a little sad to realize that I was going to school far away from some of my best friends”
Many students enjoyed the time they were able to have with their friends, as most are moving miles away from each other.
While the students were mingling, parents were taking pictures of their children, creating memories that will last forever.
“It was exciting to see the new paths we all are going to take and cute to see the poster of our names in the hallway,” remarks senior Annabelle Julg.
Besides the individual photos, group photos were taken as well for students going to different regions, big universities, ivy leagues, etc., among other activities that the students could partake in.
Decision Day was an amazing event for all students and families to help close one chapter of their lives and prepare to begin a new one.
“It was really fun to see where everyone’s paths are taking them after Spring-Ford,” said senior Ramona Shekhar.
