Whether you pack or buy lunch, I’m sure we’ve all had our experiences with school cafeteria food at some point.
Across the country, the choices remain relatively the same between public schools: pizza, chicken tenders, fries, fruit. etc.
Whatever it is, many people have gotten tired of school cafeteria food – and the majority agree that the flavor and portion size leave more to be desired.
Spring-Ford lunches recently acquired an upgrade, however, with two new sections of the cafeteria opening up that introduces a new spin on cafeteria food.
A notably popular attraction with lunch buyers has been the Boar’s Head: Premium Deli, which allows students to fully customize a sandwich: the bread, cheese, sauce, meat, toppings, you name it. Just within days of its opening, it was clear that students loved it.
“I love the customization that comes with the Boar’s Head,” said senior Susu Hejazi. “It really brings the quality up on my lunch and I feel happier with it.”
It is evident that the new options of food Spring-Ford has provided has been popular among students.
“I pack lunch, but sometimes when my friends come back, it almost makes me want to buy lunch myself,” senior Becca Riley said.
The cafeteria has also begun serving a variety of foods from around the world as well. Whether it’s chicken alfredo, General Tso’s Chicken, or teriyaki with spring rolls, it is clear that people have been enjoying it. Many appreciate Spring-Ford’s attempt to create a more diverse environment where students can try food outside of what they are accustomed to.
“The rice on the teriyaki chicken is way better than the rice my dad cooks,” senior Jayden Evans said.
Lunch is an incredibly important meal of the day. It fuels students for the second half of their classes and supports healthy eating habits. Spring-Ford’s upgraded meal choices are a welcome step towards both cultural diversity and a well-fed community.
