When strolling through Spring-Ford Ninth Grade Center hallways, one may be greeted by the friendly face of Jason Bowers.
Bowers joined the administration as a Spring-Ford House Principal this school year.
In his 16th year as an educator, Bowers left the district he had been with his whole life. After growing up in the North Penn School District, Bowers worked at the district’s secondary school level for many years. He commented that he “wouldn’t call it a difficult process” concerning his move to Spring-Ford because of his support from former colleagues, as well as the people of Spring-Ford helping to make it an easy procedure. Bowers stated, ”While it was a difficult decision, in the end it has been a very pleasant experience.” He described it as a learning process, one day at a time.
Bowers earned his bachelor’s degree in history with a secondary teacher certification from Gwynedd-Mercy College. Additionally, he earned a master’s degree in education from Cabrini University and an administrative certification from Delaware Valley University.
After spending his youth as a student at North Penn, Bowers knew he wanted to pursue a teaching career. He began as a substitute teacher, yet soon obtained a position teaching ninth-grade social studies. His journey at North Penn lasted for 15 years, 12 of which were devoted to teaching, while the rest were spent as a technology instructional coach, a school climate coordinator, and an interim assistant principal. His time as an interim assistant principal opened his eyes to the administrative role, where he is now.
When looking to move into this administrative position, Bowers was influenced by his past experience enjoying the secondary and high school levels, inspiring his interest in continuing in the high school setting. He noted that he is happy to have started in Ninth Grade because he is especially excited to follow the class of 2027 to their graduation.
“I look forward to seeing the growth and success that will come from this class and being along with them on the journey,” said Bowers.
Bowers expressed that his favorite aspects of his career lie within the community, mentioning that he was pleased to “be a part of the strong community that definitely exists at Spring-Ford.”
Because of that, he is often found conversing with those around him, since strong relationships within the environment are one of his favorite aspects of his job.
