Rams reach state final

Staff Report

The Spring-Ford softball team reached the first state championship game in program history with a 2-0 victory over North Penn at Boyertown High School on Monday in the PIAA 6A Semifinals.

The Rams (22-2) will travel to Penn State’s Beard Field to face Seneca Valley (15-6) on Friday at 4 p.m. in the state final.

Spring-Ford senior Jules Scogna pitched seven scoreless innings in the victory over the defending state champion Knights on Monday. Scogna, who plans to continue her softball career at Boston University next year, has the chance to win the Rams’ only state softball championship in her final high school start.

Left-fielder Allie Wescott highlighted a strong defensive outing for the Rams, with a diving catch for the final out.

Spring-Ford won games against St. Hubert’s, Penn Manor, and the Knights for their trip to the PIAA final. Seneca Valley defeated Central Dauphin, Quakertown, and Pennsbury.
