Rams winter track scores personal bests

Baker finishes ninth in the state at the shot put.

Staff Report

Although the weather has not been the best this winter for the track team to practice in, there were many bright spots on both the boys and girls side for the team. On the boy’s track team, senior Nick Trapani improved from previous years as he was been able to drop his 800-meter time down to 2:05. Sophomore Alex Teufel also was a bright spot for the Rams as he has continued to improve his pole vault height and got his PR up to 12 feet this indoor season.

On the girls side of things, sophomore Nene Mokonchu continued her outstanding freshman campaign as she reached a state qualifying height of  5 feet, 6 inches which put her at second in the state. Mokonchu also ran great times in the 800 meters, running 2:24, and the 400 meters, running 59 seconds, all of which are very impressive times for just a sophomore. Junior phenom Maura Baker continued her dominance in the shot put this winter season as she threw a state-qualifying distance of 39 feet, 5 inches, to put her at 9th in the state.
